Cricket found me late, oddly enough. Growing up in Singapore the sport was on the fringes, but a long stint studying in Australia threw me into the deep end of Test summers and league cricket, and I never climbed back out. What started as something I tagged along to with friends became the thing I read about obsessively — pitch reports, weather maps, ground-by-ground scoring patterns. I treat Tests, ODIs and T20s as three separate games that happen to share a bat and ball. A turning surface in Chennai and a seaming green-top in the north of England demand completely different reads, so the bulk of my preparation goes into conditions, toss implications, head-to-head history and the balance of a squad rather than reputation. When I post a prediction, I want it to survive scrutiny on its own logic. Eleven years of following this closely has drilled respect for variance into me. A single collapsing session or one freak run-out can undo a perfectly reasonable view, so I'd sooner be candid about the things I can't know than dress up any match as a certainty. — Daniel Lim
